Symbolise: Inner beauty & Self love

One fine day, Y and I were watching the Korean drama, Goodbye Mr. Black when one of the main character was named Kim Swan. We were obsessed with the name, Swan, maybe it was how the male lead called out for her that makes it so attractive. We went to learn the meaning behind, Swan.

swan [ swon ]

  • a large waterbird with a long flexible neck, short legs, webbed feet, a broad bill, and typically all-white plumage.
  • a person or thing of unusual beauty, excellence, purity, or the like.
  • Literary. a person who sings sweetly or a poet.

Swans usually stand for symbols of grace and beauty. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, found swans sacred.

Seeing a swan is a good omen. In most cultures, seeing a swan is a sign of prosperity. This can be financial prosperity or something less material. For instance, if you’ve been looking for more joy in your life, it could signify a time of good cheer and happiness ahead.

If you see a swan, it means you need to awaken to your true beauty. Acknowledge the power of the self. The swan lets you know an awakening is about to take place. Swans send a message urging you to realize how amazing you are. Unfold your talents and let your heart shine. This message shines through in the familiar “Ugly Duckling” story by Hans Christian Andersen. This a reminder that we all have inner beauty, just some of us take a little longer to realize it.

We named my first niece as Swann, with an additional "n" added to differentiate from the large waterbird but still keeping the significant meaning behind it.

And here is how the shop is named BY SWANN.

We hope in BYSWANN, you are able to find your Inner beauty & Self love...
